A review of the quirky 25h Hotel in Vienna.

Last Updated on November 5, 2023 by

When it comes to design and style, 25hours knows its way around, making every stay an adventure. 25hours Hotel Vienna is no different. Each of its 184 rooms and 34 suites is designed according to a unique style. As the company’s motto says, ‘You know one, you know none‘, I feel this is more than appropriate to describe their lovely hotels. Indeed, each hotel by 25hours is carefully selected and designed according to unique characteristics. These reflect the cultural, culinary, and artistic traditions of a specific city. While standardisation is a point of strength for many hotel chains, differentiation is what makes 25hours hotels a rare gem in the market. And you know what? It works!

Last year, I had the pleasure of spending some time at the 25hours Hotel – The Trip in Frankfurt. Saying that I loved it is an understatement! You can imagine how excited I was to stay at the 25hours Hotel Wien beim MuseumsQuartier, and see what it had to offer!

The 25hours hotel Vienna, first impressions

25hours hotel Vienna

The 25hours Hotel in Vienna welcomed us with a cryptic message. ‘We are all mad here’. A sort of Alice’s in Wonderland memento that fuelled my curiosity even more to discover what this place was like inside. The reception hall is spacious and filled with all kinds of objects. A bicycle, a vintage photo booth, and even a music recorder! I was already reaching for my camera when a friendly young lady at the main desk greeted us with a warm smile.

The photo booth would have to wait a little longer to be captured on my camera! In fact, after the usual check-in procedures, we were finally directed to our room. It was just in time for us to notice that most of the staff didn’t seem to be more than 25 years old. Coincidence, or had I ended up in a strange version of Carroll’s universe?

Our room at 25hours Hotel Vienna

Our mural wall designed by Olaf Hajek

After opening our mysterious room on the fifth floor, I am immediately captured by the unique mural designed by Olaf Hajek. All the rooms at the 25hours hotel in Vienna are inspired by the circus theme. This reflects somehow the traditional leading role of the Austrian capital in performative arts.

The room is spacious, funky, and equipped with everything you need. The ambiance is divided into two main spaces by a curious TV holder covered with stacked vintage luggage. I love it (and secretly thought about getting one for my bedroom in the UK). The living area provides a great space to relax with a glass of wine. Pleasantly, you can find this on your desk. Ready to accompany your cheesy night or help you work with your laptop. From here, you can also access your own private balcony with a view of Vienna’s Museum Quarter. I wished it was a little less chilly outside, so I could enjoy this additional space more. However, I preferred to return to the coziness of our colourful room!

The sleeping area features bold colors, a comfortable waterfall shower, and a super-soft king-size bed! Alessio didn’t waste any time and made himself comfortable immediately while I was exploring every inch of the room. I’m delighted to see that the hotel is continuing its ‘Stop The Water While Using Me!’ project, which encourages guests to engage in sustainability by turning off the water (that runs continuously) while washing their hands or showering.

Trying the Ribelli Restaurant

While staying at the 25hours Hotel in Vienna, and to celebrate my birthday, we decided to dine at the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Ribelli. Here, you can truly savour traditional Italian cuisine in the heart of Vienna! I admit that I’m always a bit skeptical about trying Italian food outside of Italy. I guess it’s a common issue for Italians to be disappointed by Italian food abroad. However, the Neapolitan-style pizza at the Ribelli restaurant was actually very good! The credit goes to a great combination of super-fresh ingredients, oven-baked dough, and a traditional recipe.

It is recommended to book in advance as this restaurant is very popular.

Breakfast at 25h Hotel Vienna

The Ribelli Restaurant area is also used to serve a mouthwatering buffet breakfast every morning. The breakfast cost is €16 per person when booked in advance, or €21 if booked at the counter. The buffet typically includes a wide selection of items, such as freshly baked pastries, bread, cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt, cold cuts, cheeses, and a variety of hot and cold beverages.

Additional hotel amenities

25hours hotel Vienna

One of the things I love most about 25hours hotels is the wide range of amenities that each location has to offer. In addition to the complimentary use of the hotel bicycles to explore the city, (which we also found at 25hours Hotel The Trip), the 25hours Hotel in Vienna has some additional features. For example, for a relaxed arrival and departure or a trip to the outskirts, they have a new recommended partner called SHARE NOW. You can simply reserve a vehicle online in advance or rent it spontaneously on site. 25hours guests receive a EUR 2.50 travel credit, for new customers even EUR 10.

The mermaid’s cave at 25hours hotel Vienna

The Mermaid’s Cave is one of the nicest features of the hotel, providing you with the feeling of having a relaxing spa day at your fingertips. After a day spent rushing through the streets of Vienna, this place offers an oasis of calm. Relaxing on a swinging chair feels like a dream come true. The Mermaid’s Cave is located on the basement floor and includes a relaxation area, a gym, and a steam room where you can enjoy tea and refreshments in total peace.

Dachboden Loft (the roof terrace)

The Dachboden loft is a great space where to have a drink with friends. Ideally located at the 8th floor of the hotel, it offers panoramic views of the city and a sociable relaxed atmosphere. We noticed that this place is very popular and get filled quickly after 8.30 pm!

Lobby interactive vintage stuff

I have to say I loved all the vintage items around the lobby area that were ready to be used by hotel guests! In fact, the 25hours Hotel in Vienna features an Instagram-friendly vintage photo booth, vintage pinball games, and a very nice audio recorder. If you are lucky to have them all to yourself (I discovered that guests really go mad for them!), you can have a great time in the company of your friends or, as was the case for me, with your loved ones. Additionally, you can also find a small lounge area here where you can relax in a funky atmosphere.

The hotel is located in the 7th district of Vienna, incredibly close to the vibrant Museum Quarter. If you are visiting during the Christmas Period, it’s the perfect location to explore some of the most beautiful Vienna’s Christmas Markets. Particularly close is the Christmas Village on Maria Theresien Square that is just at 7 mins walk from the hotel.

The hotel is very easy to reach! You can take the metro line U3 to Volkstheater or the U2 to Museumsquartier. However, the U3 station is slightly closer, and it’s just a 9-minute walk to the hotel. Additionally, the hotel offers an airport shuttle that operates upon request.

Parking

The hotel has an on-site parking with a limited space. This costs 29€ per day and needs to be booked at the reception.

25hours hotel Vienna final considerations

25hours hotel Vienna

Once again, 25hours Hotel did its job and made our stay very special! From the warm welcome to the attention to detail in every area of the hotel, and ending with a fantastic variety of carefully selected food in their restaurant, the experience was exceptional. I particularly love the unique character of each 25hours hotel, and the one in Vienna was the perfect base for us to explore the city and the Museum Quarter.

What’s more, the quirky decorations and entertaining hotel amenities added an extra layer of fun to our stay. This was especially enjoyable during a part of the day when I usually slow down due to tiredness from exploring the city, and there’s not much to do in typical hotels. Here, I had the opportunity to add some more excitement to my day. Whether it was taking pictures in the photo booth, relaxing in the Mermaid’s Cave, or having a drink with my husband on the rooftop bar, I felt like I made the most of my time in Vienna.

Oh wow, this is fantastic. I love places like this, so unique with a lot of character. Better than a generic hotel room. Although with that much art and color in the room I’m not sure how easy I would get to sleep. Looks like it would keep me entertained though
