Czech Republic

“The ancient splendour and beauty of Prague, a city beyond compare, left an impression on my imagination that will never fade.”

– Richard Wagner

Czech Republic, historically known as Bohemia, is one of the most underrated countries in Europe. Indeed, except from Prague, people not often explore the many beautiful places this country has to offer. But Czechia is not less incredible than Germany or the Netherlands. Indeed, I found it magnificent and full of history and charm. I personally had the opportunity to visit just two cities, but this set me up to explore this country more. Indeed, I can’t wait to plan another trip and see what other hidden gems I can find. Discover here the best Czech Republic travel guides.

Czech Republic Travel Information

The capital of Czechia is Prague. This is also its largest city and historical capital of Bohemia.

Czech Republic Currency is Czech Koruna. Euro are not accepted so don’t try to use them in the country. You can obtain Czech Koruna from any currency exchange office or ATM around the country. It’s always better to have some currency before arriving in Czechia, in case you need to buy anything or take a bus from the airport. Nevertheless, contactless payments are widely accepted.

Czech Republic has two different types of plugs: Type C and Type E. These are the same used in Morocco and other countries in Europe. If you are travelling from the UK, you’ll need to buy and adapter. I always use an universal adapter so that I don’t need to buy one for every destination I visit.

Booking your hotel in advance is more than essential to get cheaper rates and don’t miss up on your preferred places. I always get the best rates on Booking.com and I booked here all my stays in Czech Republic.

Safety in Czech Republic

We found Czech Republic very safe. We travelled with our two little twins and had no issues at all. However, safety good practise is always appreciated when traveling in Europe as pickpockets might happen in crowded places.

In Prague, be particularly vigilant in trams and crowded streets. I recommend to place your passport and cash in a Invisible Money Belt. My best suggestion is to keep on your wallet only small pieces of cash and hide the rest in the money belt. Indeed, this is very discrete and will ensure you can go around safely and without gaining unwanted attention.

Where is Czech Republic?
