Spring/Summer seasons are coming and flower displays will soon start blooming all around Europe and the UK. When I first moved to Britain, I discovered with great surprise that in the UK there are some of the photogenic flowery fields I ever visited! Indeed, British people have lot of passion for gardening and their floral displays are nothing less than beautiful! In this blog, I created a small list of most instagrammable flower fields in the UK to visit during the spring and summer seasons. These places are among my favourite and each one has different type of flowers to see.

Before planning your trip for any UK flower field, is good to read some information that can make your trip easier! Read this below.

  • Flower fields in the UK are seasonal vary according to different regions. Therefore if you are visiting the UK in June, you won’t find the same flowers as you can see in April/May. Similarly if you visit the south of England you might find different flowers compared to Scotland.
  • A good 95% of these fields are located in the countryside with no direct access to the public transport. This means that you will need a car to get there unfortunately.
  • Many fields are not free to access but they will require a small fee to enter or even a previously purchased ticket.
  • Drones are often not allowed so is better to check the rules if you are visiting a private-owned flower field.
  • Fields (particularly poppy and lavender fields) tend to be very crowded during their peak seasons. If you want good pictures you might want to visit very early or very late.

The Real Flower Petal Company Confetti Fields, Worcestershire

The Real Flower Petal Company Confetti Field is one of the most exclusive flower fields in the UK. Indeed, Confetti flowers blooms only for a short period during summer time. Ergo, you have only a few weeks to visit this field (that is privately owned). Indeed, Confetti Flower Field is open for just 10 days per year and displays some of the most beautiful flowers in the country.

How to reach the Confetti Flower Field

The Confetti Flower fields are located in Wick, a small town in the Worcestershire county. It may take up to 2h and 30 minutes to reach this place from London as it is located in the North West of the UK (from the capital). Certainly, having a car will facilitate your visit.

If you are travelling by train from London, you should catch a first train to Birmingham New Street and there change with a train to Worcestershire Parkway. Here you will be still far from the field. Therefore, you will need to take the bus X50 and stop at Timber Lane. Lastly, another 10 minutes walk will take you to the field. Travelling by train will be time consuming. Therefore, plan this well before going.

When is the best time to visit the Confetti flower fields?

The Confetti flower field opens usually around 10 days between June and July. This largely depends on when the flowers are in full bloom.

Confetti Flower field 2024 opening date

The dates for the 2024 opening are not yet been released as these are strictly weather-dependent. However last year the field opened between 30th June and 9th July. So you might expect similar dates if the weather follows a similar path. Dates will be published online in the Confetti Flower Field website soon.

Entrance Fee and opening times

The field is open every day (within the 10 days) from 10 am and the last admission is 3:45 pm.

Last year entrance fee was £ 7.50 but I expect this going a little up this year. Car parking is free. Please note they introduced for 2024 a mandatory online reservation and is no longer possible to buy tickets on the spot as in previous years. This means that ticket are released online and will go sold-out pretty quickly. They will open the ticket sales in June.

Norfolk Tulip fields

Yes! You are reading this correctly. There are tulip fields in the UK. So, apparently you don’t have to go till Netherlands to enjoy these unique colourful fields. Indeed, Norfolk is the area of England that boasts the major production of Tulips in the whole country.

How to reach the Norfolk tulip fields

There are two principal sites where you can find tulip fields in Norfolk. The first, and most famous one, is the Belmont Nurseries in the town of King’s Lynn. Here, each year more than 60 million tulips are displayed between April and May, before the yearly crop. The second site is a little field in the East Winch village. This is a little tricky to find because it’s a little unexpected. Indeed, while the Belmont Nurseries are easy to find, there are no clear directions on how to find the field in East Winch (we found it for a fortunate case while passing from there).

As direction on your google map you should put directly “East Winch”. The village is stretched entirely on the main road (Lynn Rd). So, once you spot the main church (All Saints’ Church), you can park your car and proceed on foot. The field is located on the left side of the church. There is a little side road from where you can access it.

Tulips usually bloom between April and May. Ergo, these are the months where you can have your best experiences. Beware that in May most flower company start their tulip crop, so check whether is still possible to visit.

The lavender fields are among my favourite flower fields! Not only because of the colours but also for the amazing smell! Among my top favourite lavender fields in the UK, Cotswold Lavenders area are by now my top place to visit in the mid-summer season. They are not very crowded, you can take a walk also in the surrounding countryside and there is a nice lavender shop where you can taste lavender ice cream!

How to reach the Cotswold Lavender fields

The Cotswold Lavender Fields are located in the small village of Snowhill. From London is about a 2 hours and a half drive. Unfortunately, there is no public transport reaching this area as it is in the Cotswold countryside. Therefore, you should rent a car for visiting.

For example, we visited in mid July and because it was still chill the lavenders were not yet fully bloomed.

Mayfield Lavender Farm & Field

Another lovely lavender field you can visit, this time close to London, is the Mayfield Lavender Farm. Badbury Hill is located in Farington, in the beautiful Oxfordshire region. If you come from London by car, this will a 2 hours and 20 minutes drive. You can eventually reach the place also by public transport but the nearest stop is at 18 minutes walk from the hill.

Indeed, while there are some nice villages to visit around, Badbury Hill is quite isolated and better reachable by car.

Poppies in England are flower with a deep significance. Indeed, artificial poppies were sold in 1921 Britain to raise money for the families of the people who died in the WWI. Moreover, Poppies were the flowers which grew on the battlefields after the war. Now, these are still wore by British people on Remembrance Day as a sign of respect for the past.

Poppies are incredibly photogenic to photograph and one of the best place to find them in England is the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. Particularly the Blackstone Nature Reserve in Bewdley and Burlish Top Nature Reserve near the A456.

Beware that due to the recent popularity in this spot, some fences appeared to avoid people disturbing the natural wildlife of the area.

The Burlish Top Nature Reserve is located at about 3 hours drive from London. It is easier to reach if you come from the East Midlands. In fact, it is at just 1 h and 30 mins from Derby.
