This planner will allow to schedule your trip and keep track of your progresses thanks to the easy and pre-filled drop-down menus.

This planner can be used in conjunction with my Shinkansen Booking Guide 2026.

How to use this planner

Most of planner is built on an easy-to-fill spreadsheet of which cells are already pre-filled for you. You’ll need only to change their data with your own plans and here you go! Please see below the single column how-to-use.

Train Route: Use this column to describe the name of your route. For example “Tokyo to Kyoto”. If you want to be more specific, you can write also the name of the station, e.g. Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station

Train Name: Use this column to select the name of the train you will taking. The drop-down menu is already pre-filled with the names of all the main shinkasen trains + the special limited express train to Mt Fuji.

Booking Progress: Use this column to select the status of your booking. The drop-down menu is already pre-filled with various options e.g. “in progress/booked” etc.

Date: Use this column to select the date of your trip. The cell is already set on a calendar, please don’t change its settings.

Time: Use this column to select the time of your train.

Class: Use this column to select the class of your seats. The drop-down menu is already pre-filled with the classes available on the shinkansen trains.

Seat Number: Use this column to note your seat number on the train

Luggage: Use this column to select if you are using a seat with luggage space
